CONGRESS: Preserve Medicaid to Protect PACE

Massive Medicaid cuts mean fewer federal health care dollars for states.
Medicaid cuts leave governors with impossible choices about which programs within Medicaid to fund and at what levels.
Congress must preserve Medicaid so the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) continues to help older adults with complex and chronic conditions age at home.
PACE Provides Value to Older Adults and the Health Care System.
PACE is part of the solution to keeping people healthy while curbing health care cost growth, especially as more people in America age and require care and services for chronic conditions. PACE:
- Saves taxpayer dollars Funded through both Medicare and Medicaid, PACE aligns health and financial outcomes to achieve cost savings for the federal and state governments.
- Helps older adults remain at home Nearly three-in-four older adults prefer to remain at home as they age.
- Can help more people The program could nearly double in size over the next few years, offering more older adults options for care at home.
Cutting Medicaid Threatens PACE
99% of adults enrolled in PACE count on Medicaid for all or part of their care. Decreasing federal Medicaid funding to states will threaten the financial resources needed to sustain care for older adults and people living with disabilities.
