Sept. 8, 2023 – The Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Association of PACE Programs (MassPACE) has chosen Jennifer Maynard, BS, RN, MPA, site director at Summit ElderCare, as its new executive director, effective Oct. 16. She will replace Candace Kuebel, LCSW, MSW, MBA, who is retiring Nov. 3. “Jennifer will be a driving force to expand and support PACE organizations and participants across the commonwealth and at the national level,” said Kristine Bostek, president of the MassPACE board and senior vice president of PACE Programs for Fallon Health.

Aug. 18, 2023 – The Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens (AACS) received a 2023 Aging Achievement Award from USAging. The Mount Rogers PACE service area expansion was among 50 local aging programs to be honored. Mount Rogers PACE celebrated its one-year anniversary on Aug. 1. The program serves the counties of Bland, Wythe, Smyth, Washington and the city of Bristol.

Aug. 15, 2023 – The Great Place to Work Institute and its senior care partner Activated Insights have honored On Lok with certification as a Great Place to Work for 2023-2024. "We are honored to be acknowledged as a Certified Great Place to Work for a third year," said Grace Li, CEO of On Lok. "On Lok is as committed to its teams as the communities and seniors we serve. From our medical experts to our nutrition team and drivers, we create work experiences that inspire compassion, care and growth. Being certified as a Great Place to Work means our teams recognize this commitment that we have held steadfast for 50 years."

August 2023 – SAGE, a national organization that provides advocacy and services for LGBTQ+ elders, shares important insights into the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which offers an effective solution for nursing home-eligible LGBTQ+ older adults to age in their community with their chosen family. PACE utilizes an interdisciplinary approach that caters to the unique medical and social needs of older adults who qualify for nursing home care.

Aug. 11, 2023 – After earning a bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy from the University of South Alabama, Livie Puranen started work with Trinity Health PACE of Pensacola, FL. Puranen is starting a new service at a new facility, which means months of planning and preparation. “We’re having to build a recreation therapy program from scratch,” she said. “It’s a little terrifying, but exciting.”

Aug. 4, 2023 – State Sen. Nancy Skinner helped secure $1 million in funding in the latest state budget to support construction of a new facility in El Sobrante, CA, that will provide coordinated health care and services for seniors in the East Bay area. Center for Elders’ Independence (CEI) will operate the new location scheduled to open in early 2024.
